Canonical has officially released Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS, the third point release for the long-term supported Ubuntu 24.04 LTS series, also known as Noble Numbat. This new version is designed to provide users with up-to-date installation media, ensuring a smoother setup process for new computers without the need to download extensive updates post-installation.
Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS comes equipped with Linux kernel 6.14 and the Mesa 25.0 graphics stack sourced from the upcoming Ubuntu 25.04 (Plucky Puffin) release. Previous versions, including Ubuntu 24.04 and 24.04.1, featured Linux kernel 6.8, while 24.04.2 included kernel 6.11. The inclusion of the newer kernel enhances hardware compatibility, making the experience more seamless.
Users can download Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS in various formats, including Desktop and Server versions, and it supports all official Ubuntu flavors: Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Studio, Edubuntu, Ubuntu Cinnamon, Ubuntu Budgie, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu Unity, and Ubuntu Kylin. Downloads are available through the official Ubuntu website.
Looking ahead, the next point release, Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS, is anticipated in February 2026. This update promises an even more exciting list of features, including a newer Linux kernel and Mesa graphics stacks that will be part of the upcoming Ubuntu 25.10 (Questing Quokka) release, scheduled for October 9, 2025.
Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble Numbat) will be supported for at least five years, until June 2029. For users interested in bleeding-edge features, the Ubuntu 25.04 (Plucky Puffin) release might be the better option.
