A new ISO snapshot of Arch Linux, version 2025.07.01, has been released, powered by the latest Linux kernel 6.15. This release, aimed at providing users with improved hardware detection, especially for older devices, is now available for download.
Among the key features included in this update is the Archinstall 3.0.8 menu-based installer. This version brings enhancements such as a new version indicator in the main menu title, improvements to Btrfs subvolume creation, and a shift to grub-btrfsd.service from grub-btrfs.service. Additionally, it introduces sync support post-installation for cases when users might shut down the system abruptly, alongside minor scripting enhancements for partition mounting before starting the installation. Also notable is the removal of xf86-video-vmware support.
Apart from these changes, the July 2025 ISO snapshot also comes with all updated packages from the official repositories released in June 2025, refining the overall user experience for both newcomers and seasoned users.
It’s important to mention that this new ISO is intended solely for new installations. Current Arch Linux users can easily keep their systems updated using the terminal command sudo pacman -Syu
.
You can download Arch Linux 2025.07.01 from the official website.
