PorteuX 1.7 Released: Experience Slackware with Linux 6.11 and GNOME 47.1!
PorteuX 1.7 released has officially launched as a significant update to this portable Linux distribution, which draws its roots from Slackware and takes inspiration from both Slax and Porteus distros, focusing on being compact, efficient, portable, modular, and immutable.
With the introduction of the latest Linux 6.11 kernel series, PorteuX 1.7 brings forth noteworthy updates when compared to the previous version 1.6 that was released in late August 2024. This version includes upgrades to the GNOME 47.1 and KDE Plasma 6.2.1 desktop environments, introduces experimental build scripts for System76’s Rust-based COSMIC desktop, and showcases the anticipated Xfce 4.20 desktop environment.
The Xfce edition of PPorteuX 1.7 Released comes with the stable Xfce 4.18 desktop environment by default and has received several improvements. These enhancements include resolving a ‘sticky keys’ notification issue, the capability to display file sizes in binary format, added support for tiling windows when dragged to the edges of the screen, a fix to stop extractors from generating invalid folders, and an adjustment to delay the panel’s visibility to 10ms.

converter scripts, incorporating an -o [path]

from 002-gui
